Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments
Premier Guarantee can now provide Code for Sustainable Homes assessments for your
developments. Through our network of surveyors, your Code compliance can be monitored
out at the same time as your warranty inspections, which speeds up the process and
allows us to provide a more cost-effective service.
Building in line with the Code not only helps you to build environmentally friendly
properties, but also homes which have lower energy costs, making them more attractive
to potential buyers.
How does it work?
The Code measures the sustainability of a home against a number
of categories, rating the whole property as a complete package. Due to their impact
on the environment, different categories will have higher or lower “value”, meaning
that a credit in one category will be worth more than a credit in another. This
is best demonstrated using the table below:
The Code uses a star rating to communicate the overall sustainability performance
of a property. A property can achieve a sustainability rating from zero (meaning
the property has not been assessed but complies with building regulations) to six
stars. Star or level ratings indicate a percentage improvement over building regulations,
as indicated in the table below:
On all social housing developments, units must carry a 3 star rating as set out
in the Code for Sustainable Homes in order for funding to be granted through the
Housing Corporation.
All of our assessments are carried out by an internal team of fully trained and
qualified Code assessors, who will also provide you with advice and guidance on
the best ways of ensuring your properties meet with the standards set out in the
Code.
Assessment fees will vary depending on the size of your development and the level
of the Code you want to build to, so ask your Business Account Manager to arrange
