Employers and managers with responsibility for managing work undertaken at height where a risk of injury due to falls (or falling objects) may exist.

• Skills to ensure all work at height is properly planned and organised
• How to ensure work at height takes account of weather conditions that could endanger health and safety
• Those involved in work at height are trained and competent
• The place where work at height is done is safe
• The benefits and applications of different types of equipment
• How risks from fragile surfaces are properly controlled
• How the risks from falling objects are properly controlled

The Working at Height Regulations require employers to carry out risk assessments and select appropriate workplace and fall prevention controls. It is essential that those responsible fully understand all of the risks to be considered and what options are available to comply with the control criteria.
